4.1
Start to gather materials and notes on the end of the Second World War, post-war conferences, and the origins of the Cold War (all of which can be found on the blog).
See below for study tips:
- make sure you have reviewed the rubric and understand how each body paragraph should be organized (main theme/main idea/argument in the form of a topic sentence...supported with SHK!)
- review the security concerns of the Big Four (France, GB, Soviet Union, USA)
- details & significance of the Yalta and Potsdam conferences in 1945
- the Truman Doctrine
- factors (or core values) that influenced the American foreign policy decisions in 1946+ [for this, think any theme or issue that reappeared in the arguments of each/many option groups during the debate]
- read the first pages of each option group's packet where it provides the background and main arguments for each
Suggested materials:
- well, everything on the blog's Cold War post....
- perhaps more specifically...1) my overview/note-sheet of security concerns that we discussed, 2) reading & note-taking guide (the HW that was due Monday 5/7), 3) crisis in the Mediterranean reading on the Truman Doctrine, 4) debate options (4) background readings
